Hi friends 🙂 It has been a while since our last milestone update back in May 2022 (almost 2 years actually), but we recently hit $200,000 in combined net worth!
After some mental calculation and realization in early February, we guesstimated that we’ve reached $200k +/- our student loans. Fast forward a month later, we are sure we’ve reached that amount!
Interestingly enough, it took us 2 years to hit $100k, and it took us another 2 years (technically ~1.8 years) to hit $200k 🙂 Even though we are both earning higher salaries, it still took us the same amount of time to save the same amount.
However, our investments are doing well, and the dividends we get are increasing. Our investment portfolio is sitting at $145,595, and we’ve only put in $119,858 of our own money. With Q1 2024 just finished, we received $415.28 in dividends, a 58.16% increase from Q1 2023!
Account | Amount |
---|---|
HYSA | $27,455 |
Regular Savings | $40,852 |
BF Roth IRA | $33,906 |
BF Taxable | $66,106 |
GF Roth IRA | $9,287 |
GF Taxable | $36,296 |
Total | $213,902 |
In our reality check blog from November 2023, we mentioned that if we accounted for inflation, our original goal of saving $650,000 had to be adjusted to $719,509. According to the CPI Inflation Calculator from the Bureau of Labor Statistics website, as of February 2024, we have to adjust our goal to $725,718.
Even though we are barely beating inflation, we are being more live laugh love.
We are allowing ourselves to buy things that we like, collect things that bring us joy, and travel to see places while we are still young and able.
We are learning to balance the idea of wanting to FIRE and not letting our youth pass us by.
We are doing our best to not let the fear of financial freedom and inflation beat us down and tear us apart 🙂
Needless to say, we are proud of our FIRE journey. We came very far! We went from having $0 in savings and investments in 2020 to achieving over $200,000 in 2024.
Great job! Happy to see y’all doing well.
Congrats y’all! “Not letting our youth pass us by” I definitely feel that. But you’re doing great!!
