Maryland, Spring 2022

Hi hi, I cannot believe that 2 years after graduating from college, we’ve finally reached the $100,000 net worth milestone (combined)!!! This week is actually the anniversary of our college graduation; we were the first batch of pandemic graduates of Spring 2020, so we didn’t actually get a graduation 🙁 Nevertheless, this is a post that will eventually be written, but I never thought that it would be this soon 🙂

To be honest, I didn’t even notice that we’ve reached this milestone until the GF pointed out that there is over $40,000 in our savings account! In total, our net worth is currently $100,689 (as of 5/8/2022)!! This is made up of our 401k ($16,339), Roth IRA ($18,621), taxable accounts ($33,942), and savings ($45,786). This sums up to $114,689, but this is brought down to $100,689 after subtracting our $14,000 in combined student loans (currently on hold and TBD) >:(

I am happy that we were able to reach this milestone in a relatively short time frame, especially when we live in a high cost of living area. We’re privileged to have good jobs that pay well, which allows us the chance to save/invest with every paycheck. We also do not have any debts (except student loans) that we have to worry about! The one debt that we might take on is a mortgage, but not at this time 🙂 We also try to keep our spendings down to a level where it’s not excessive, yet enough to keep us happy!

We still have a long way to go until we’ll be able to FIRE, but this is a good start 🙂 Until then, we’ll continue doing what we’ve been doing: keep our spending in check, avoid buying things that don’t improve our life quality unless necessary, avoid taking on bad debts, save, and invest every dollar we can no matter which way the market goes!
